What Is Sipadan?
Sipadan, also known as Pulau Sipadan, is perhaps the most well-known island in Malaysia, and it is considered to be one of the most appreciated diving locations in the world.
The island is a real legend, situated in the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin, and being home for thousands of species of fish and hundreds of species of corals. It is precisely its waters, its diversity and the abundance of marine life that has earned Sipadan its status among the world's top diving locations. On the Sipadan Island, diving is at its best.

A Brief History of the Place
It was only at the end of 2002 that the island was established to be a part of Malaysia, as a result of the decision of the International Court of Justice; until then the island had been the motif for a territorial dispute between Malaysia and Indonesia.
In 2004, in attempt to protect the island and preserve its natural habitat, all resorts on Sipadan were closed and moved to the nearest islands. This is a justified decision, if we are to think about the richness and uniqueness of the island's habitat, which was even declared a natural sanctuary in 1933.
Despite this restriction, the Sipadan diving experienced has not suffered a bit and it is still the main reason why tourists come to Malaysia in such a great amount, every year.

The Sipadan Island Diving Seasons
Tourists come to dive in the waters of Pulau Sipadan all year round. Still, the best time to dive is considered to be between April and December, most of all during July and August. Instead, from January to March you may have to face the unsettled weather and the low visibility, which, apparently do not manage to scare tourists off anyway.
